Thread: New Install - all aircraft throttle up by themselves HELP!

    Exclamation New Install - all aircraft throttle up by themselves HELP!

    I just completed a new install of FSX (Deluxe), and I installed the SP1a service pack. I have not installed any other addons whatsoever. No matter which aircraft I load up, after about 30 sec of "idling", the throttles go to 100% without me touching a thing. Even if I hit "F1" to bring the throttles back to zero/idle, about 20 or 30 sec will go by and they go back to 100% again. This happens on every aircraft at load-up (haven't tried to fly yet - would be a bit difficult without throttle control), without me touching anything - just load the aircraft and wait 20-30 sec.

    Any known issues about this? Any "fix"? Since I haven't installed any addons, I'm not opposed to a uninstall/reinstall.

    Suggestions?

    Help?

    Thanks!

    I'm not an expert on service packs but I thought SP2 was the latest one, so perhaps that's the one you need?

    Hmmm... I'll check on an SP2 for FSX, but I think I discovered the problem! <bonk self on head> ... I ended up uninstalling and re-installing the whole sh'bang. It was during the reinstall that I sat back and glanced at the shelf under my desk and saw my joystick sitting there, when it dawned on me...

    During the install process, FSX made my joystick active. I haven't used it in ages, so it wasn't calibrated, and the throttle position wasn't at zero. So, every few seconds it would kick in and do what it is supposed to do, and advanced the throttles (as well as make the airplanes turn all over the place without any input from me). Once I disabled it, FSX ran perfect!

    Lesson learned, I guess... !

    Hey, look at it this way, you now have a clean install of FSX. The best time to make a back up of the thing while it is still virgin.

    ...and make virgin back-ups after successive SP or Acceleration installs. It's easier to copy/paste them in, rather than repair/Re-install.
    I also make a complete back up of my FSX folder and *.cfgs etc., once a month.
    Copy/Paste to the same location each month, overwrite = yes.

    Other FSX file locations(Win7/Vista) you may want to back up regularly:
    fsx.cfg and GrantedRewards.BIN, {C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX}
    Your control settings = Standard.xml {C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls}
    Logbook.BIN and flight plan files {C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files}
    scenery.cfg {C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX}
    HAF 932 Adv, PC P&C 950w, ASUS R4E, i7-3820 5.0GHz(MCR320-XP 6 fans wet), HD 7970
    64GB Vengeance @ 1666MHz, 128GB SAMSUNG 830(Win 7 Ult x64), 512GB SAMSUNG 840 Pro(FSX P3D FS9)
    WD 1TB Black(FS98, CFS2&3, ROF, etc.), WD 2TB Black-(Storage/Backup)
