    I have just contacted Microsoft. Most unhelpful company in the world.

    Uninstalling Fsx can often result in leftover files that will mess up the reinstall. The PMDG instructions for a complete uninstall and reinstall are available here:
    http://support.precisionmanuals.com/...stall-fsx.aspx
    I have found that the free Revo Uninstaller works very well. It will locate all the leftovers and assist in removing them.

    Thanks for that but I followed the PMDG instructions to the letter.

    I know I do have an airport installed because I just installed ORBX's High River Freeware Airport

    Do you by any chance know how to fix the new issue:

    If you have "Flight Simulator will now exit" how did you install an add-on?
    Anyhow, before you do anything, you need to get FSX running in it's virgin, unmolested, state:
    No SPs, No Acceleration, No add-ons. No Nothing.
    Putting stuff in a messed up install is only going to make matters worse and require a lot more work to decipher and fix.
    IF that installation is repairable at all.

    It looks, to me, that you did not un-install it correctly the first time.
    Use the PMDG guide(Bruce's 1st Link) to un-install.
    Once un-installed, run Revo un-installer(Bruce's 2nd Link).

    Defrag, Reboot, then, carefully, follow the installation guide here: NickN’s Set up FSX and Tune it.

    Once FSX is installed, and running right, before any SP or Acceleration is installed, make a copy of your entire FSX Folder for back-up.
    Install your SPs or Acceleration per the guide above and make a complete back-up of that too.

    Now you can start adding stuff. One at a time, test, defrag. Next, and so on. Make a once a month back-up of it all again.

    Other FSX files to back up once a month and the file locations(Win7):
    fsx.cfg and GrantedRewards.BIN, {C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX}
    Your control settings = Standard.xml {C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls}
    Logbook.BIN and flight plan files {C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files}
    scenery.cfg {C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX}

    Those three back-ups should stop you from having to do another remove/re-install. Ever...Don

    Thanks, I am doing that. By the way, I managed to install the addon as it is packaged as an .exe installer.
