Thread: Log-In problems

    Exclamation Log-In problems

    Hello everybody,

on may 15, I logged in like everyday.
Then, the problems began to annoy me:

I had to enter my password 2 times (Both times it was the RIGHT one)
After that, the board system told me, that I entered a wrong password 5 times, and I can't log in for 15 minutes.
I reset the password, got a new one and waited at least for 30 minutes.
In that time I got an email from flightsim.com, which contained an ip-adress, that entered 5 times the wrong password.
The odd thing is, it wasn't my ip! It was an ip from cloudflare.com!

    How the hell...?

Okay, I waited a day to write this thread. I now have a new password, and that's it.

But: What's the thing with this cloudflare.com? Do they wanted my account or something? Or do they have a contract with flightsim.com? Is it the new forum software?

(I'm using Firefox 12 and no proxies.)

Cloudflare was something we tried that distributes the site to various servers across the world to allow you faster page loads. Unfortunately, it seems to have a number of bad side effects, which some of you experienced until we turned it off.

    FYI,

I had some problem issue. I forgot to log off at my work computer. If you did not log off other computer or your cell phone internet logoff. It will have trouble to logoff for reset password. You must log off and you will be fine same password to login in one login access. I learned lesson that I left my work logon. I went to work and log off and try it again it worked. LOL.

That sounds very strange. There is really no relation between the cookie on one machine
or the other. When you connect to the site, there is a "session" that is started. You could
have 10 computers logged in and each computer would have their own session. The local
cookie reflects the state of the local session. For example, when I am developing it is not
uncommon for me to have IE, FireFox and Chrome open and running. I can be the same
user or another user in each browser. They each have their own cookies and sessions.

    Hope this is helpful,
    Rick

    Hi All
I have also had log on problems to the new site, but seems slightly different to the ones experienced here. What happens to me is when I type my password into the appropriate box (top corner of the page) frequently it appears in plain text, not as a row of dots, when this happens the only work around I have found is to leave the password box empty and fail the first attemt to log on and to log on the next page.

It is your own browser that determines how the text appears in the login boxes, not the web site. Maybe you can try another browser?

Also, don't forget that you do NOT have to logout...ever! There is no need for you to login every time you visit. Just don't logout and allow the site's "cookie" to remain on your computer; as long as you have that cookie file in place you never need to login.

As for the idea of never logging off, it sounds like a good idea. Maybe it's just the way I have my computer set up, but if I'm logged
on then all the responces on a topic in the forums run backwards.

In other words, #1 which is the opening question or comment may be on page 4 and the very lastest comment is the first page.

I would rather read the comments from #1 on the first page all the way through to the last comment on page 4 or whatever page
the last one is on. If I'm not logged on, then this is the way it runs.
Of course if I wish to join the thread then I log on and my comment is at the top of the page.

I will log on and off, it just makes things easier for me to read.

The order that messages are displayed is something that you choose. There are default settings, which you get if you are not logged in. When you login, the settings that you have chosen are used instead of the default. Sounds like you prefer the default, so you should login and change the display options to what you prefer. There are links at the top of the display columns that let you re-order the messages.
