Thread: AverageFrameRateDisplay.

  1. Default AverageFrameRateDisplay.

    I would love to be able to see the average framerate displayed within FSX.

    I have made the appropriate additions under text info in the cfg file i.e.AverageFrameRate= 1,2 etc or whatever the factor should be,and obviously saved it.

    However,I still do not find the Average Frame Rate displayed within the game.

    I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I would appreciate any help/advice.

    I'm not sure if this is what you want but hold down the "shift" key and hit the "Z" key,it will cycle thru some info on the upper left portion of the screen including the frame rates at that point in-game.

    Edit your FSX.cfg to include the following lines:

    [TextInfo.X] <<<-----whichever window you want to put it in
    FrameRate=1,1
    AverageFrameRate=1,2
    LockedFrameRate=1,3

    Not tried it myself as I'm still on FS9. but I've been told it works.

    Attachment 126831Sorry I can't download an Image since my free version of FRAPS won't do a JPEG image but while flying the easy Sitka landing mission I hit the shift key and then tap the z key and it did a good display in the upper left corner of the frame rate.

    Here's the JPEG image

    But, that's not showing what the OP wants. I beleive he wants to show current fps, plus what the overall average is. The poster above your post, I think, has provided the answer, but I could never get the average to show in fsx, but I can in fs9.

    The only time I've seen the average displayed is when I use the FPS Limiter utility to start FSX.

    If you notice in the parenthesis it gives the Low, Average, High Frames rate. Hope this helps you

    Hi, It's me again. In my example it shows the frame rate at the time I pressed shift z. I don't know of a method for keeping this on the screen with constant updating. It shows frames/sec. and my setting (Unlimited) and it looks like fuel state. I guess if you want continuous updates you could sit there and keep pressing shift z till you pass out?? Keep flapping those wings! OK more good news.....I just played with this again and learned that if you tap shift z gently twice it WILL display frame rate AND it will update and change as you fly your mission/ free flight. I sure hope this is what Stratford man is looking for!

    If you use the ENB plug-in there's a sort of average FPS display available with the numpad multiply key (*), also if you open your FSUIPC.log after a flight it will tell you what the average FPS for the entire session was. Haven't tried it myself either but I think FortyFreak has the answer for the FSX in-game avg fps counter.
