I don't even know if it's possible.... but that would certainly be a huge move upwards huh?

As far as I know it is not possible on several levels. First the security around Flight and its packages (DLC) and second that the format of Flight planes may be different than the FSX ones.

What would you do with any of your FSX planes?

Do you know of anyone who's actually given it a try?

I know someone looked at aircraft formats in the early days of Flight release. I don't think it went very far. However to install anything would likely involve hacking the security system associated with the different packages in flight. Each package has a CRC check at least and probably other security checks. We were able to reverse engineer file formats for the FS series. Although MS did not approve they did not stop us. However the incentive was not that much there since they did not control the 3PD after market so the financial implications were negligible. In the case of Flight any reverse engineering of the files and security (which did not exist in the FS series) might get a reaction since it would directly threaten the official revenue stream for DLC.

There are plenty of game hackers out there so I surmise by the law of averages someone will do it at some point.

I have a feeling it's not going to happen. Who has the time to keep up with all the updates MS can push down ? Heck they could change the format altogether on us.

Okay, so much for that thought.... thanks for your replies.

If this could be done I would almost be willing to try Flight. My interest in it was DOA when it became clear that they had designed the sim so that FSX planes would not work, and guys that build planes were officially out of the game.

I bought Hawaii.... but I won't be spending anymore money on Flight. Guess it's FSX from here on out.
