    Default FSUIPC Update Question

    Hi,

I installed FSUIPC back on July 24th, 2011. I believe the highest (most up to date) version at that time was v3.99. My question is, what file do I go into in my FS9\Modules folder to open up FSUIPC on my computer to see the "about" page and to manually "check for updates"? I can't seem to find it, and I don't know if v3.99 is still the latest version for FS2004 users or not.

By the way I'm not using a registered version... just an unregistered version as a stand-along to run Autower & ADE9x's "Connect" feature. If I'm only using it for these purposes, how important is it that I try to keep it updated?

    Thanks,

Very seldom does an error occur, in fact almost never, that affects coordinates. However some add-on apps and aircraft do use it for nav displays, weind vector displays, and TCAS gauges.

If you find the FSUIPC3.dll in modules, right click on it, and select properrties, then version, you should get the information. Also everytime it is opened it rewrites a small file called fsuipc.log in that same modules folder that you can read in Notepad, etc., that gives that information and what apps are using it.

    You can always get the full version and interim updates from this link;

    Ronzie,

Okay, I see what you meant. Mine said 'FSUIPC.dll' (without the "3"), but either way the right-click on properties yielded the version number as 3.9.9.1 .

Also everytime it is opened it rewrites a small file called fsuipc.log....
When what is opened? The simulator, or the FSUIPC.dll right-click? (I didn't quite follow you on that one).

Okay... I think that's what I was looking for. I see an addendum to v3.999 titled "3.999i". Not really sure just how necessary it is for my purposes, but for my peace of mind, I think I'll add it.

Version 3.999 is available at http://www.schiratti.com/

Go to Dowson. It will be in the list.

Yes thanks. I believe that's the one I've had since last July, but the 3.999i may be the update I'm looking for.

EDIT: Just updated to v3.999(i)... dated April (something-or-other) 2012. So I know it went through. A single .dll file. I don't really notice much difference with the few things I use it for, but as I said earlier, at least I have peace of mind in knowing any issues with my flight sim that could have been FSUIPC bug related, will most likely be fixed with the latest update.

Thanks again to all who quick chimed in.

On the modules update page there are release notes specific to the interim updates. In the full package download there is an update history file.

In the modules folder the fsuipc.log is rewritten every time FS starts up. FS loads all modules in the modules folder whether used or not. Here's what it can look like (<<< are my comments):

********* FSUIPC, Version 3.999 by Pete Dowson *********

********* FSUIPC Log file closed ***********

This was just an FS startup. If I loaded a flight that also would have been shown in addition to any apps using it.

You probably would not get into it but logging can be set to greater details for troubleshooting.
