missing default aircraft.

i installed fsx a while ago and noticed something was missing but could put my finger on it untill i looked at the files.. the default grumman goose and the default maule are missing from the game. i noticed this before i downloaded any aircraft at all. i looked for them and found their files however when i load the game itsself they dont show up in the aircraft selection menu, nor are their respective missions there. can any one advise as to how to correct this.

You probably have the FSX standard edition. If I remember correctly, the Maule and the Goose are only available with the deluxe edition. Their files will show up, but the aircrafts will not be available (or maybe used for Ai traffic only, not sure about this).

they show up as ai aircraft. but is there a way to make them flyable?

I also have the FSX standard edition, but the Grumman and Maule are in my airplanes folder too. If you want to fly them, open \Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Grumman_Goose_G21\aircraft.cfg and replace the first 17 lines with this here:

I only have replaced the name of the airplane with any letters in [fltsim.0].
You can do the same with the aircraft.cfg of the Maule. I had to restart FSX and I can now fly them except when I select one special painting of the Grumman or the Maule FSX exits for what reason ever. If you want a panel you can copy a panel folder of one of the other airplanes into the Grumman or Maule folder.
