Tricky Saitek x45 Throttle

Hello there.

I recently found myself a used Saitek x45 joystick, and everything works just fine except the throttle barely gives me a response. When moving it the test screen shows nothing more than a little blip at one spot, and after moving the throttle occasionally the entire thing, joystick, buttons and all will simply stop working; have to move the throttle a bit more to get it working again.

In fact, when I first installed it nothing would work, except the throttle which was shooting all over the place at the slightest movement. I tried reinstalling the driver and deleting the "VID_06A3&PID_2541" folder in the registry to have it recalibrate, and now I have a working joystick with mostly dead throttle. Note, the rest of the throttle section works just fine; rudder, buttons and everything.

So, is there anything else I can do, or am I just going to have to find a new one?

It may be a dead or filthy potentiometer. Cleaning it is something you can do yourself. http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showth...63#post1667563
If cleaning it is no help, find a local Electronics Tech and see if they will test/replace the throttle potentiometer "on the Cheap".
If it is the pot, locating one and replacing it can be a lot cheaper than the whole thing...Don
