For Steam users you might have to verify cache to finish the download. Steam downloaded about 3/4 of the patch and when I tried to play flight it said I had corrupt files. By verifying cache it corrected the problem. To verify cache on Steam find your game title on Steam then right click on it and select properties. Then select verify cache.

I did the update and it didn't work on my system. And I can't log onto Live until I finish doing the update. Catch-22.
So I'm currently relegated to flying the pre-update version offline until my long letter to MS Support gets a reply. (They reply quickly and accurately, right?)
Muttermuttermutter...
What you could do is uninstall Flight and download the Steam version and if you did what I did above you should be running in no time. I couldn't log into live this morning either. I got an email with a code on it to verify who I was before I could.

Yeah Steam may be cool for DLC, but the MS Flight site, download/install, makes everything else seamless...Don

With help from the guys over in the Steam forums I eventually figured it out -- it was a weird Vista permissions issue, and I had to run the update manually. Works now.
