Thread: You want some fun!

  1. Default You want some fun!

Want some fun, try landing the F-102, this thing handles like a dream when airborne, but have plenty of runway for the takeoff roll, and good luck getting it on the ground. But it does have an autopilot that works, but no autoland. Great add-on................

Thule Greenland, 1961, ADC F-102 with orange tails......and the last one has to be fast.....it has lightning bolts doesn 't it?

The F-104 Starfighters are even more challenging to land. You grease a landing in one of those "engines with wings" & you are a talented sim pilot. Never tried the Delta Dagger in FS9, looks good though.

.....So, the orange tail & wingtips. You know why?

Thanks Thorsten. One of the reason I got the F-102 download was to give a long deceased F102 pilot I knew killed in a midair the last landing he never got. Very twilighty zone story how it all came about, practicing to get it right for the anniversary date of his mishap.

.....Good guess. Aircraft that regularly flew over Greenland & such places having copius amounts of snow had their tails painted with high visibility red-orange so they could be more easily spotted in the snow were they to go down in all that vastness of terrain.
