Thread: My "Low Cost" Cockpit Solution!

Default My "Low Cost" Cockpit Solution!

Hey guys I just wanted to share my solution for a credible - yet relatively low cost set up.
It consists of 2-32" LED TVs for forward view, 2-24" LCDs for the panel and a 19" LCD for the GPS (5 screens in total running in ATI eyefinity).
This setup was a lot of fun to fly by itself, the huge improvement came however once I had the idea to apply a corrugated plastic printed panel - with a real cockpit photo over the whole thing. The difference and immersion is enormous, as the upper panel extends beyond your field of view, when you look forward you feel you're really inside a cockpit . I am installing switches and LED lights a bit at a time to make it look even more realistic. The width is 90% of the real thing (747-400).

I will post more pics as I get the time.

If you're interested in a quadrant of any kind, feel free to contact me at support@fsthrottles.com so we can discuss what level of realism you will be trying to achieve. We can do just about anything from a simple cost effective solution, to more complex projects. I would be happy to hear your ideas.

Thank you Ricardo, I have been trying to find a utube video of a home made 747 throttle unit but I can no longer locate it. I will get back to you soon as soon as I can get some examples together. marco.

A couple of questions if I may...
How did you mount those screens? Did you make shelves for them?

My rig is actually really similar to yours. i am running nvidia surround instead though.

I have a 32" tv on the top, and 3 x 24" at the bottom. However these are riskly balanced on my tiny computer desk.

The dual 32" looks really good actually.

Have you though thought about ripping out that 19" and replacing with a touchscreen.
