Thread: Please please help me!

  1. Default

Ok, I've had it. It still stutters even in Windowed mode. I don't know what else to do. I reinstalled my x1950 pro and runs without those annoying stutters. I'm at a loss. If anyone has anymore ideas, please don't hesitate to tell me. Now I have a extra agp video card.
    Win XP Pro / Intel Dual-Core E6600 Wolfdale 3.06ghz / 2gig DDR2 667 (Dual channel) / HIS Radeon HD4670 1GB DDR3 / ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 Mobo
Maxtor SATA 200gig 8MB Buffer 7200 HD / ANTEC True Blue 480W PS

  2. Default

Could there be something on my panel that would be causing this for certain video cards and not others? I starts happening when I look left and right, and sometimes not right away too. Here is my panel config for my 767-200. When I turn off the bitmaps for the side cockpit views, it will be smooth, when i turn on the bitmaps, then the stutters begin. Weird.

    Frames set at thirty?
Why not try lowering them ,I have mine set at twenty ,and and even if the frames drop down to 17-16-15 etc the sim runs smoothly.
People seem to get hung up by frame rates and not whether the sim is performing(running smoothly)well or not.
On a daily basis my sim will sometimes seem to be better performing than others ,but this is usually due to were I am flying IE if i choose EGLL or perhaps KLAX to fly into-from sim performance will not be as good .However if i use the same aircraft from say HECA - OMSJ or the middle east generally the sim performs much better.(lower airport complexity ,less AI about)... However it performs I generally never watch frame rates, but do only have them set at twenty. In my case I think I have just come to terms with FSs idiosyncrasies over the years and no longer let it bother me as much as it used to ,I enjoy my sim performance most of the time I use it.
    Anyways some thoughts
    cheers Andy
PS I only have an old P4 2.8 ,Geforce 6600 GT ,2gb Ram set up .
And all is good at Horatio Airways .

Add more RAM. 2 Gig is a small amount of memory for you system. Ram is cheap and easy to install. Max it out if you can.

Add more RAM. 2 Gig is a small amount of memory for you system. Ram is cheap and easy to install. Max it out if you can.
The 4CoreDual-SATA2 is an old LGA755 board that maxes out at 2 Gigs. There is a custom BIOS that allows you to install 4GB on this board.

My suggestion is to remove the video card drivers from your system, reboot and reinstall the latest video card drivers.

I have the latest drivers from AMD(ATI). I have also tried lowering the frames down to 25 where its not as smooth as 30 granted, however the stutters are still there. Ive been wanting to update the BIOS to that custom version to increase the memory, but feel a bit hesitant to do something like that and really mess my system up. I heard its really 3.5 gig of memory really since it still can read 4gigs of memory. But who knows, I might just try that BIOS anyways, since there is also an AGP modification on it too.

Here is a link i found with a bios update, however its for the ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA not the 4CoreDual-SATA2, but the specs look about the same. Seems like it adds support on the HD 4670 series cards too.

    Hi,

You can find the custom BIOS for your board here http://weblog.rockhall.ro/?p=1
just look under "Update BIOS to the latest version"

I used to have a setup similar to yours, same board and video card, 4GB RAM and a Q6600 CPU clocked @ 2.88

Most sliders set at very dense or high and frames locked at 30fps

FS9 uses only ONE cpu core

    1. Try removing the video card drivers, reboot clean and then reinstall them again.

    2. Rename the fs9.cfg file as was suggested on earlier posts and try flying from a smaller airport.

    3. Try a different aircraft and or panel.

Thanks for the reply, looks like its a windows BIOS flash too. I will download it and if all fails, i will give it a shot. Im really hesitant when it comes to updating the BIOS since I don't want to mess up my computer.

I did a test flight with Vsync turned off on my catalist control panel. I did get tearing on my textures when flying but no stutters showed up. I might just have to live with tearing for the sim to run smoothly. IDK
