thanks guys :)

Hold down F2. That is the key to "reduce power" and once its past idle it goes into reverse.
Only works on the ground, except in turboprops.

One other word regarding your reference to "reverse". You may already know this but reversers should only be used on touchdown as a method of dynamic braking in conjunction with the normal brakes. I heard of one case some years ago where an Aeronaves de Mexico pilot attempted to use reverse thrust to back away from the terminal, well the plane did not move but several windows on the terminal were blown in.
I have actually seen in some cases of reversing away from the gate actually works. I think the plane has to be pretty empty for them to do it.

It is common practice for MD-80's to "reverse thrust" away from the gate. I frequently ride an MD-80 (AA) from DEN to DFW where this happens. I've only found one model of an MD-80 for flight sim that will actually move when reverse thrusters are engaged.

The use of reversers to actualy reverse isn't recomended in the real world due to the danger of FOD ingestion, I guess in the case on the MD-80 this is less of a problem due to the high slung engines. This is one reason why the reversers aren't used all the way down to a standstill on aircraft with underwing engines.

Also Tim, use Shift-P and 1 or 2 to "Pushback" from the gate!

Actually the number set for reversers in the *.air file is for the most part too low. Most commercial heavies (above 12,500Ilbs) use approximately 50 - 60% of the engines available thrust to help in slowing the aircraft down. This depends on the calculated landing weight.
