Thread: how to select obs for nav2 FSX

  1. Default how to select obs for nav2 FSX

    hello,

i have a little problem with FSX i can only assign obs selection for nav 1 to my yoke button or keyboard.

in the keys there is OBS SELECT. by default this selects vor obs nav1.

how can i select VOR OBS NAV 2 from the keyboard or assign that to a joystick button.

The default key for adjusting the OBS is "V".

To adjust the OBS for NAV2 you press "V" twice, then + or - to adjust.

i assigned the "V" to OBS Select

when i press V the OBS Nav 1 is selected and i can turn the OBS using +-

when i press V again it just remains on NAV 1 . i tried double clicking "V" to see if it will select OBS Nav 2 but it did not.

Right On! My assignment for OBS select is Shift+V, so, doing a; Shift+V, then 2, then + or - works...Don

shift v, good to know. I got to get back to flying VOR's instead of GPS. Yesterday I was going to fly KMQY-KFLL VOR's only and I use N and N 2 to change the Nav freq instead of using mouse and I'm glad to know shift v will work for the OBS. I used to fly like this routinly but the GPS knocked be back a notch. One beef I have with Auto tracking a VOR is that the plane wobbles untill the plane is about 10 miles downwind of the VOR. Got a customer...got to go...lol

For you panel tweakers, here's a Shameless Plug! "FSX Steam Navigation Gauge Set"(navinstdcbjrv1.zip) has working OBS knobs on both VOR1 and VOR2.
Plus, it comes with a neat little seperate knob that switches the AP's Nav/BC/App steering info from VOR1-GPS-VOR2, so you can actually use Nav2/VOR2 for approaches.

Gotta give credit, where credit is due; Without Jim Robinson's original VOR1 design and Doug Dawson's help, the package wouldn't exist...Don
