Default VFR Terrain and 3D Trees

Has anyone else ever bothered adding trees to Horizons VFR scenery for the UK, or anywhere?
I cant see any info on google.

Be cool if others have done parts of the UK cos I like actual world objects. So far ive covered the whole of Wirral in England and stopped at Hawarden Airport in Wales and im basically just making it more dense now and other tree types.

    Cheers.

Yes ! I'm adding trees in France using JOSM (OpenStreetMap) and OSM2XP. That's a nice way to improve not only ephemeral flight simulators but also lasting real world maps.

    Happy flying !

I forgot to say im in FSX not Xplane.

Someone said it will work with FSX but it wont work for me, I cant get SBuilderX to compile the BGL, the selection boxes during save are greyed out and not tickable.

OSM2XP uses OpenStreetMap data, but first you have to add/edit everything in OpenStreetMap if it's not available around your location.

Thanks very much. Ive read up a lot on this, but I noticed in a video of xplane 10 that the scenery in the distance pops up just like the autogen probelm in FSX so im about to install the demo first see what its like.

It is working... but the file you gave to OSM2XP had only 320 buildings and 45 forests. Where I live, a 1 degree x 1 degree tile gives about 180000 buildings and 4500 forests. You can now install the generated dsf file inside your X-Plane/Custom Scenery/Your Scenery/Earth nav data/+53-003/ folder. But don't forget to copy the "facades" folder and to install OpenSceneryX.

If you want files for OSM2XP, you can download them here:

Your right it is working, the area I chose was just a small test, but what do you mean don't forget to copy the "facades" folder? I do have openscenery installed.

My problem now is I converted fs2004 VFR terrain and it works, but the mesh doesnt work so its all flat, but the VFR came in 2 seperate scenery folders (terrain texture and mesh kept seperate??) so I took all the BGL's and textures and combined them into 1 scenery folder. For me, the mesh and ground textures is the scariest part of scenery design, I need to leave it to the experts to be sure its accurate so its just as well you can buy it, which is probably what ill end up doing.

Ive been loving that JOSM program, takes time but it pays off, still using FS2004 VFR textures because theres no proper textures available in my area to make my own.
