Just for comparison, in XP10, I get about 20 to 30 percent better frame rate in Linux then I do in Windows 7 on the same hardware (dual boot). That's Window 7 64 bit vs Linux Mint9 32bit. In XP9, it's more like 50 percent better. XP10 could use some further optimization frame-rate wise, but it is improving. My specs are Core i7 OC to 3.5GHZ, 6GB Ram, GTX460. I would say that Linux does better with Nvidia cards as does x-plane...
As far as how I like it... I gave up on FSX a few years ago when I switched to Linux as my primary OS. Now that I have given x-plane a chance, I never look back. I'm a pilot for a living and x-plane has much more realistic "feel" then FSX. I do miss some of the scenery, particularly at airports, but it's what you make of it - there are lots of great free airports for x-plane and I stick to those for the most part.
