Thread: How to create a map from scenery (FSX)

  1. Default How to create a map from scenery (FSX)

    Hello,
I have photo-scenery divided into regions and would like to create a map of regions. But don't know how to do it. Is possible to get any view of the scenery tiles? The scenery are bgl files for FSX. Noting more, just photos of terrain.

Can you provide a bit more detail. Do you mean a topographical map, a road map, a navigaional map or something else?

I need only to get borders of every scenery or borders of the tites. No navigation map, nor any objects in it, just borders of scenery. My plan is to find map of country for this sceneries, and place the maps into the country map. So I would know where the scenery lies and what towns are there.

Not sure I know of anything to do that - if you want a map of the area then is not a real world map any use?

I would like to insert the map of the area over real world map to see where the area is located.

I have created the map from fsx sdk by TmfViewer:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\TmfViewer.exe
You can open any scenery bgl file(s) there and view them.

Nevertheless I had some problems. It seems to me, that the original tiles are rectangles with y size bigger than x. The tiles in the bgl (maybe) are squares. So if you would want to do something like me, you need to make screenshots of original GoogleMaps map, than to take the view generated by TmfViewer and resize it to fit. Also you probably would need to do some rotation. I did not succeed to fit it 100%, so if you would want to cover wide area, it would be problem to fit it.
