Thread: Wombat gets Extremely Dangerous

    Default Wombat gets Extremely Dangerous

Not sure how many of these I'll be able to get to, but I'll give it a go.

Flight #1 just screamed low level to me, sorry Mike. So I dusted off a plane I haven't even flown yet and ran her from OV2 to KEGE. It called for a Caravan but I figured the Quest Kodiak would fit well within the spirit of the run, nice glass cockpit too

So I took off and ran her down the valleys into Eagle. Some low clouds at first, but they cleared by the time I got there.

Here's my duenna and some screenies.

Couldn't agree more. Great flight Ed and nice plane. Hope you are able to work in all the flights. It's only about 4 or 5 flights every two weeks for the next two months.

I had some time the past couple days to do a test hop and then fly to San Diego. Crystal clear weather until I descended into KSAN, lots of puffy clouds made it interesting. Landing over that hillside as it got darker was a bit intimidating though. Flew my default 737 with the Southwest Shamu textures.

Here's a couple screenies and my duenna.

So, I made it to Big Bear. Weather wasn't a factor, although the winds were pretty squirrely enroute. I did a practice hop right before this official flight and ran into some pretty bad icing. I looked at my groundspeed and it was down to 70kts and I said "that ain't right." So, on with the carb heat and up came my numbers. When I did the official flight I just left the carb heat on. No screenies because I'm pretty sure everyone knows what a Baron looks like.

I practiced this one twice. I flew it yesterday and the weather wasn't that bad. When I loaded the sim today it was really socked in, so I flew it again. Pretty nasty haze taking off from Gran Canaria, VFR on top, lots of puffy clouds and thick haze descending towards the VOR. Flew outbound for the procedure turn and made my descent to 1400 while turning back towards the VOR. Did a little view swapping to take some screenies and when I got back into the cockpit the weather cleared up!! Lucky me!. Was a little shaky making my turn to final approach, which I made a bit early, but I came around right on the runway heading, just a little bit of bank

Lucky you is right! I had crosswinds that wanted to push me into the mountain.

Looks like I made it through this batch unscathed. Weather wasn't a factor at all for this flight. About the only thing I was in danger of was falling asleep while I was enroute. Still it was fun and the more I land these big jets the more comfortable I get in them, which for me is the whole reason to be doing these flights.

    Welcome to Lisbon Ed!

Mike's got an open tab at one of the better local establishment(s).

I've had enough, but I arranged for one the the gals that lives close by to "show you around".

    Enjoy your stay.

Just pay the Ol' Guy across the street when you're done.

What a nice place to visit.

    Cheers,
