Thread: bell/textron 430 - how to switch nav/com

  1. Default bell/textron 430 - how to switch nav/com

    Hello,
    I tried this helicopter bell/textron 430:
    http://www.simnetwork.com/SIMNETWORK...=44&rowstart=0
"FSX Northeast Airlines City Hopper Bell 430"
but cannot find out how/where to switch nav1<>nav2 and com1<>com2. The main panel is somewhat blured and missing descriptions. Otherwise good aircraft.

    Anybody can advise?

I have the original FS9 version by Alan Devins and Rory Kelly. There is an FSX upgraded version at Simviation that has a working 2D panel and VC.
That's what I use in FSX. You should be able to use it's panel in yours, or your textures in it...Don

Thanks. I tried the aircraft as you referred but it seems to me no difference except there is darker night texture of the aircraft surface. I just tested it in night and still I cannot find the switches to swap com1<>com2 and nav1<>nav2. Can you help me how can I switch that?

I guess I don't understand what your question is.
There is a popup radio stack, but there isn't an icon for it. Because it is so dark, I swapped the Checklist Icon for the Radio Stack Icon in the VC:
    In the panel.cfg [Vcockpit01] section change; gauge44=SimIcons!Kneeboard Icon, 625,126,12,12 to gauge44=SimIcons!Radio Icon, 625,126,12,12

The Radios in the 430 don't have standby frequencies. They are all direct entry + - on the corresponding digital frequency displays.
If you are talking about the audio control panel, there isn't one...Don

OK, I understand. I try to learn to fly with different helicopters from one airport to second and back. I tryed Lynx helicopter and there was (blue color?) switch called "swap". I just clicked the button and could use the frequency from nav2, when I was going to go back. It would save me setting frequency again and again.

I install helicopters from http://www.simnetwork.com and I'm starting to have "problems" that the starting time of FSX looks to be much more longer. Is there any way how to speed up the start? Now I think just about, I will create some setup scripts, to move certain directories with the helicopters away from the simobjects folder. But it seems to me that FSX every time tries to read all the aircrafts which is 1Gb-2Gb of data. So is there something like cache to enable, to remember the loaded data? Also I noticed the in game fps got lower (seems to me). I did not measure fps but would it be possible that traffic could increase because of the installed helicopters?

Thanks for your tip. I understand you. I fly short distance between two airports to learn to fly with some helicopters just installed. I tryied Lynx and there was switch called "swap". So when I had freq. set on nav2 for backcourse, I just clicked on the Swap button, and I could use the freq. from nav2 on nav1. So this saved time of setting freq. by hand. I just learn to fly so it is not simple to make the helicopter stable, when I need to set frequency by hand. Maybe just my problem is that kind of joystick I use, so just a little move will destabilize the helicopter. But the textron 430 looks more simpler to control than other "bells" I tried.
