Default Downloading as we speak. Initial thoughts?

N4Gix said my cheeks would be red. I sure hope so. I can't say anything else negative that I haven't already, so I'll probably just mention that I've confirmed my worst assumptions.

The inverse is eating my crow while it's piping hot. Considering myself an honorable person, I said I would, and if I'm wrong I will.

well theres one thng i was right about. notice the date on this:

gone forever are the days when you could pay us for something just once and be left alone to use it as you saw fit. we're going to make you pay over and over, and youll have to depend on us to dole it out to you in pieces over the internet. thats the real reason we fired aces. no more games where you are in control. we will subjugate you and wring you dry, and youll let us, becuase you are cattle and we own you. we control everything now. As the fidelity of this hobby increased, so did prices and the need for profit. Back In Mike Stone's heyday, he could churn a model out a week in his spare time. Newer aircraft take years, if made full-on.

I'm not mad at them for wanting more money. It's hard to deliver the whole world in modern hobby standards. I'm mad because I wanted a simulation. I didn't want to collect coins in the carplane.

Well, you don't have to if you don't want to. You can just fly around and enjoy the scenery or try the missions.

I think some of you have confused photorealism with simulation.

I guess we'll see what kind of missions there are. I really like when the poll was out and they threw the idea of being a hawk around.

Red from Anger, disappointment, insult at that Microsoft thinks we'd actually like it.

Note so far that everyone's grandson or 14 year old is enjoying it so far. That's what it's targeted towards I think. Not us ol' timers of the Flight Sim Nursing Home ward. Time to sit back on the rockers and say "I remembers when........"

In that case, let me go on record by saying that I like it! I'm a real pilot that actually likes Flight. Perhaps because I'm not as worried about graphics as one member who posted some screenshots describing it as horrendous (yeah, comparing it to your FSX setup with a sh*tload of addons will be kind of like comparing a Gulfstream V to your average GA Piper/Cessna). Or perhaps I like it because it actually flies quite well. Or because the performance is excellent. Or because of the improvements in looking around the cockpit. Or the screen full of autogen that doesn't seem to pop up from nowhere. Or the sounds that are pretty detailed and accurate. Or the fun challenges like the landing challenges. Or the great VC shadows that add a lot to the immersion.

It's kind of sad that a lot of people write it off before actually properly using it, and then describe it in terms like 'piece of crap' without actually providing any reasons why it is so bad according to them. I'd urge people to try it with an open mind and without expecting it to be a replacement for FSX or FS9.

    I quite agree with this.

Been using Flight Simulator since it was out on floppy disks. I don't know if I'm an old fart (28), but I certainly don't fit in with this newer generation at all. Personally, they should have stuck to their original plan, which was bring something to the newcomers, but keep the hardcore simmers happy. You know all this stuff about making an easy sim? Even in FSX, you can load up a 737 and go doing barrel rolls with it. That is, something that isn't too complicated. Some people thought FSX and such was too hard to use, it's not.

See, there's a certain group of people who basically can't think for themselves or want everyone to explain everything for them. Kind of how Flight is set up. It's designed so even a monkey can use it (mass market). I think it's called "instant gratification society" or something along those lines. Or another one is "having someone do the hard work for you".
