  1. Default Off and on the engine of 737 and 747...need help newbie to fsx

    Hi,

i might be naive...but how to off and on the engine of 737 and 747 in fsx? I did find the switch labelled "engine start" but why the engine keep on running? Was that the right switch or is there any keyboard buttons that i had missed?

    Thanks

I'm sure there will be a better answer soon- but try the fuel cutoff levers, they should be located on the engine panel which is opened by using the shift key and one of the number buttons.

Once the jets/turbines are running you have to cut the fuel/ignition to kill 'em.

On the default 738 either in the VC, or on the 2D Throttle Panel, they are the little toggles just below the throttles themselves.
They are labeled; Master Ignition Switch on the tooltip.

On the default 744 either in the VC, or on the 2D Throttle Quadrant, they are the Ball Topped toggles, Labeled; Fuel Control Switch, also, just below the throttles.

To fire it up, turn one on and start the corresponding Engine using the starters on the overhead.

I have struggled so many times to start the 744 manually, I can't count 'em. Sometimes it starts right up, other times one engine never fires(Ctrl+E time!)...Don

I use keys CTRL E to start engines. Then WAIT a few minutes if it's a multi-engine jet airliner because it takes a long time for them to spin up, one after the other.
To switch my engines off I use CTRL SHIFT E, and it takes several minutes for them to stop spinning.

You can look at the front of your engines like this to see if they're spinning-

I think also engine select command plus mixture/idle cutoff or mixture/full rich key/joystick commands will do it.
