Is Flightgear still limited to 2 gigabyte scenery files that only cover ten degrees of Longitude? That was what
made me decide on YsFlight!http://homepage3.nifty.com/ysflight/....html#YSFLIGHT
13 megs and no waiting!
Thanks!

My FS4 looked something like that! And to think it is for Win98!!
The screenshots and description of the product look really good!
I can't help wondering why there is little or no mention of this product in the forums?
No forum category? No screenshots (above ones excepted)?
If it's as good as it claims to be, and free, to boot, I would expect it to be promoted by it's users. No?
Are there any experienced users out there that can speak to this? — Bob
I tried it out briefly............it's free and that is about the only plus. The graphics are just slightly better than MSFS 98, yet MSFS98 would without question be considered a more complete flight simulation software. There really is no point in resorting to Flightgear when you can buy a copy of FS2004ACOF or FS2002 on ebay for like $10-$15.

The price is not the best about this simulator. It's more about freedom: you'll not find a simulator with a better license.

No SDK ? It's open-source and you can compile it for your own system, modify everything the you want, 32-bit, 64-bit, GNU/Linux, Mac OS, Windows... and I can't remember MSFS98 was looking like this:
In Flight Simulator 98, could you see awesome 3D clouds ? Nice water shaders ? Interactive virtual cockpits ?

The graphics are better than MSFS98, but I would still consider MSFS98 a more complete package overall. Compared to FS2004, the free price would in my opinion be the strongest point.......FS2002/04 is not open source but in terms of creating add-ons, it is free to do and anyone can do it. I'm not discrediting the software.......I think it's a great concept. Matter of fact, it would be in the best interest of everyone to see a project like this really take-off. I hope development continues.

How many peiople want to do that - or even have the ability to do it? And when you've compiled it for your own sysyem what do you do then - buy another sysem and compile it for that?
FlightGear is for those whose hobby is developing a flight simulator - not flying one. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's of no interest to most other enthusiasts.
