    Default Fs9 or fsx?

    Howdy,

I've been out of the FS game for a while and looking to get back in. I'm trying to figure out if I should get FS9 or FSX with my current laptop (kind of leaning towards FS9). I'm aware that I don't have the equipment to run FSX to the max, but I wonder if my laptop could run it with decent graphics and still by enjoyable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    My specs:

    HP G60 Notebook PC
    Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2.00GHz
    3.00 GB RAM
189 GB Free (287 GB Total)

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    64 MB
1309 MB Total available graphics memory
    1366x768 (monitor resolution)

With that unit I'd certainly look at FS9 -- that Intel graphics set is very weak. I doubt you'll be able to run FS9 with most things maxed, except maybe in very remote areas (if then).

Yeah, i've had FSX for a few years on my PC and it runs fine but it's still a very touchy temperamental program prone to throw a tantrum if the ingame settings are not to its liking, so i think you'd be pushing your luck trying to run it on a weak laptop or whatever.
Before that I had dear old FS9 which ran sweet as a dream and I only switched to FSX because of the better graphics.
If FSX started giving me serious hassle i'd bin it and switch straight back to FS9 without any qualms.
    My machine-
    Intel Core2 Duo E8500@3.16GHz
    RAM 4.0GB Dual-channel DDR2@400Mhz
    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1024Mb
    WinXP Home SP3

PS- you could try the free FSX Trial Version to see if it works-

    Without a doubt, FS9.

    Thanks for the advice, fellas.

Actually, I ended up dusting off FS2002 last night and it runs quite well on my laptop with a lot of settings on high. Plus, I actually completed a flight from Atlanta to Charlotte without crashing on landing haha. I surprised myself.

Maybe I'll give FS9 a go when it comes in the mail. If not, FS2002 is still fun there are actually some people who still play it according to the forum on here...which is kind of surprising.
