Default Version 6 or 7 updates available????

Hi guys, I recently have given an old copy of X-Plane to a buddy of mine that is just getting started into Flight simulators. I'm not sure of the version it was since it doesn't state it on the cd but I had written on the cover "Version 6.26". If my memory serves me correctly I remember being able to update it to version 7.

Here's the problem. When going into the XPlane website it takes you to updates for version 10. Then there's a link for older versions which takes you to updates for versions 8-9. Then there's a link for older versions which when I click on it, says the page no longer exists.

#1 is it worth trying to put in any updates to this old version?
#2 does anyone have the update which could be e-mailed?
#3 is it possible to use a Saitek Throttle Quadrant with this version? I plug it in and get recognition of the buttons but not the throttle quadrants.
#4 Do I need the FSUIPC for #4 to work.?

    Thanks,
    Mitch

    Hello !

I don't know if it's possible to update old X-Plane versions from 2001 and 2003, but you can download a free open-source flight simulator here:
    http://www.flightgear.org/

    There's also a free demo for X-Plane 10 here:

    Happy flying.

Thanks for the info MdMax. I'll look into the FlightGear more to see if it would be better than his older X-Plane version. I'm thinking the X-Plane 10 demo wouldn't be good because he doesn't have a gaming computer and I'm afraid he wouldn't be able to run it well. Especially, since I see some comments with others have that type of issue.

I did find a link that works for the old updates. It's here: http://www.boostair.com/articles.php?lng=en&pg=117
It takes you to the same website that X-Plane directs you to but for some reason their link doesn't work for me.

Still curious about the Saitek quadrants if anyone knows.

    Thanks,
    Mitch
