Before ANY files are put on flightsim they should be checked to make sure any other required files are mentioned in the description. I've lost count how many times I've downloaded an aircraft only to be disappointed that the panel.cfg contains an alias to an aircraft I dont have. This is really annoying ggggrrrr

You're not alone. I've gone through the same thing. What I do is change the alias to a different aircraft's panel, an aircraft I already have, or I download another panel to go with the aircraft I'm downloading.

It's YOUR responsibility to manage what appears on your computer. No-one else's.

And when the discription says for PRO version, and you have STANDARD, of course you won't have those planes. Most high grade add-ons use panels and sounds and gauges NOT available in the Standard version. It would be nice if MS would just go back to one version. It would definitely take care of all this type of confusion.

Two best pieces of advice for MSFS simmers:

1: Buy Pro (thanks Leif!)
2: Read readmes/manuals (All manuals. Every manual. All the time. It may not be better than flying, but it's definitely better than crashing)

Altho I agree , I'm puzzled by your reaction. As long as there are different versions available, I feel it is the responsibility of the poster to indicate which version or that specific extra gauges are required. That said, most of the items I see mention any extra items needed "Concorde" gauges, "Real-CRT" etc.

Frankly, *my* pet peeve is people who upload a demo or shareware w/o identifying it as such.

MY pet peeve is those little stickers on fruit these days. The produce guy said it was MY resposibility not to eat them!

Seriously, though. I sense a lot of irritability in this thread, like the kind I get when I forget to close my flight plan after I've been on the ground for six hours. :) Let's all hug and get back to flying.

One other point - both of the major download sites offer a method of looking at the zip before downloading. If I'm not sure about a package, I routinely review the readme to look for this kind of information. If it has been a problem for you, I suggest you do the same.
