And just an observation which may just be peculiar to my setup, I find the FPS limiter (as in FPS_Limiter_0.2.rar) results in smoother flight when flying in "complex" conditions (ie complex aircraft near a large airport with lots of clouds, for example) which is not the case when I limit the frames from within the driver profile. I consider limiting the frames to be a "YMMV" type of thing which also includes the method used to apply a limit.
My findings exactly. MMV when doing those low, fast, Canyon carving flights where FPS_Limiter, for some reason, took a back seat to the internal FPS "Lock"...Don

You should be able to copy the above into notepad, change the locations to reflect where FPS_Limiter.exe and FSX.exe reside and save it as(all files) "fsx.exe.limited.bat"

If 30FPS isn't the limit you want change f:30 to reflect your limit...Don
Your instructions are full and detailed but I still cannot get the batch file to run
I am ignoring the shortcut for now and concentrating on running the batch file and its contents.
I am puzzled by the contents of the batch file
    Code:
    start E:\"FS Utilities\FPS Limiter\FPS_Limiter_0.2\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "C:\Games\FSX\fsx.exe
Why is there a missing quote at the end of the fsx.exe command?
Normally quotes are paired 2/4/6/8... There are only 3 in the total command line.

I think the fault is with the batch file line; but then again adding the last quote does not make it work

    Those are characters(instructions) not quotes.
It has been a while, but, IIRC, that was a direct copy of my batch file. I no longer use it, so it went the way of the Dodo.
The best way is to create the batch file per noell's earlier instructions.

For the last few months I've always run FSX with the default slider at unlimited and got much better performance than before, it might seem suprising I can get accepatable at all on my setup (see signature).

FPS are higher overall in unlimited, you just have to put up with:
Random dips from 25-30 to 6-10 once every five seconds or so, inconvenient but I'd rather have an average 22 than 12
Regular crashes due to computer running out of available memory. Even more inconvenient but so good when it's not crashing it's worth it overall
Astronomical loading times (maybe more due to my 80gb FSX installation, unhealthy on a 220gb hdd)
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4400@2.00 GHz
    4.00 GB RAM (3GB useable: DDR2)
Nvidia GEFORCE 9500 512MB Graphics Card
    Windows 7 32-bit

That's absolutely horrible and why one should be using a frame limiter.!

Because FSX goes at nearly 200FPS then 30FPS... the result is that you get a stutter effect.
For a full explanation google it.

Not sure, what you are flying but if you are using a PMDG add-on plane that pushes any system to the limit some form of FPS limiter is advantageous.

Tried all sorts and failed so I have given up on that.
I'm using MSI Afterburner since someone on the web said it could be used with any AMD card.
