    Default FSX has stopped using multiple cpu cores, now just on core 0

    I'm now having to manually set affinity to All, which of course boosts my performance back to where it should normally be.

    Just before this issue arose I had run Bojote's FSX tuning tool, as well as installed EZDok. The problem began soon after that, and I'm not saying either is related, just letting you know what has changed since everything was running fine. Other than that it's a new installation. SP1 and 2 are installed, which is obviously how I was running on all cores to begin with.

    I have let FSX create a new cfg but still only running on one core.

    When recreating the FSX.cfg is there anything besides the cfg itself that I need to delete first?

    Could you tell me exactly what the entry would be in the FSX.cfg file? Thanks

    [JOBSCHEDULER]
    AffinityMask=0 //for single core machines DO NOT USE!!
    AffinityMask=3 //for dual core machines
    AffinityMask=7 //for triple core machines
    AffinityMask=15 //for multi core machines

    Pick ONE!!

    On Triple and Quad cores reduce the number by one to leave a single core available for Windows Background processes, which lots of folks say helps.

    You can also use Task Manager to set the affinity and priority while FSX is running. It only lasts for that session...Don

    Hi,

    You should have a section called [JOBSCHEDULER]

    Then a line called AffinityMask= 15 which will set FSX to run on all 4 cores in a 4 core system.

    I get much a smoother fsx using affinitymask 14 on a quad core. This leaves core 0 free to run any background processes and virtually eliminates microstutters.

    14 works best for me as well.
