I have a problem that appears to be similar to what was described in this thread: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showth...ar#post1625030
In FSX with SP1 and accelerator, I am flying a Beech Baron 58 with the Garmin 1000. On approaches to runway 5L the ILS system appears to work well. However, on the reciprocal runway, 23R the HSI reads backwords as described in the KEWR post. What differs from that post are:
- Glide path works
- HSI does not work until almost on top the runway
- ILS frequencies are different for 5L vs 23R
The conclusion on the KEWR thread was that the issue was a back course problem due to runways at KEWR having the same frequencies on the reciprocal headings, KRDU does not. I have flown this a number of times checking to make sure that I had the two different frequencies entered correctly, and the nav correctly switched to the appropriate frequency.
Should mention I am a rank NEWBIE, so know nothing other than what was mentioned in the other article about ADE or modifying scenery files, so any explanations cannot assume I know anything about using such, or much else about FSX. Thus please explain in detail or give a link as to where I can get the any details necessary to implement any suggestion you might make.
Wouldn't you know KRDU and KEWR would have this problem as they are the two airports that interest me most. I live in RDU, daughter lives in Japan, and on the two occasions I was fortunate to go over and see her I took the Continental flight from KEWR to RJAA. In fact I've started simulating that flight.
Many thanks for any help anyone has to give!
