Default AI Traffic- Frame rates dramatically slowed! Help!

I've recently began learning about AI traffic and just yesterday was able to see the AI traffic I wanted for the very first time. I decided to work on KLAS (Las Vegas McCarran Int'l) since I love the scenery and so I downloaded as many aircraft in the livery of the actual airlines serving KLAS as possible to make my experience more realistic. However, my frame rates have dropped so much that now, it looks like I'm seeing a slide show. Also, when on the ground, my aircraft respond very slowly to my commands.

Everything used to move smoothly with no pauses, and now, since adding the AI traffic of my choice, everything is sooooo slow. Does anyone have any solutions to this problem keeping in mind that I really want to keep the aircraft I've added?

Also, is it possible that my frame rates are slow because I've set my traffic percentage to 100 within the AI Traffic program and my simulator? (I filtered all my flight plans in AI Traffic so I could see more traffic). Any knowledge or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. =)

Go to http://www.projectai.com/ and download all the AI-aircrafts and flightschedules.Take your time to read all the stuff and install it.Their AI-aircrafts are extremely frameratefriendly!
    I never use addon-aircraft as AI,and all works perfect.For example,one "dreamfleet"-aircraft takes more framerates then 10 project AI-Aircrafts,etc.
When you want to make your flightplans yourself, also use only PAI-aircrafts or Default-repaints...

I hope this can help you...

I'll second the recommendation for Project AI. Their aircraft are extremely well suited for AI traffic, both in terms of frame rates and AI piloting, and new repaints/airlines are appearing every day. And, of course, due to Project AI's extreme generosity, they're free.

Aircraft by POSky, Dreamfleet, et al, are beautiful, but they don't serve well as AI aircraft--a few of these highly detailed aircraft in your field of view will bring even the fastest systems to its knees.

On the other hand, Microsoft's default FS2002 aircraft, as well as aircraft designed by Mike Stone, perform well as AI on my 2 GHz system.

For a quick solution, in display settings, in the Aircraft tab, set the parameters to minimum. you'll lose some eyecandy while taxiing, but at least you'll be able to taxi :)

Earlier today landing at KBOS I had very bad frame rates. I had been suspecting the added American Airlines flights I added awhile back as reason my busy airports were slowing down. I was running AI slider at 30%. After reading this post today I thought that my addition of 3rd party aircraft with TrafficTools might be the cause of my slowdown. I love the look of the AA727-200 Advanced plane so I had added it to my AI aircraft( made great eye candy at the gates). I went into TrafficTools and replaced the plane with a stock aircraft. No more stutter. It always pays to keep an eye on this board. By the way, the real weather downloaded today around 5pm was awesome at Logan with heavy rain, thunder, and lightning.

How do you get AI aircraft? I have the traffic slider at 100% and have never seen another aircraft either in the air or on the ground. I'm sure it's something extremely simple that I'm overlooking but some experienced help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Damascus,

I'm not really an expert, but it's possible that your program may have a defect or was improperly installed. There really should not be any reason for you to not have any AI aircraft, even if you do not have any addons as far as flight plan management programs or AI aircraft generator/management programs. If you do have such programs, such AI Traffic, which controls AI aircraft in FS, you can always filter all your flights to show up at 100%. For example, with me, AI Traffic has an option where you can FILTER all of the time settings or percentage settings for all AI flights available in FS. I filtered all my flights to 100% in my AI Traffic program and even in flight simulator. So now I have dozens of aircraft everywhere. I hope this may have given you some insight. =)
    Happy flying.

Thanks for the help. I think I had posted somewhere else and had said that I had the problem fixed. It turned out that I was missing the airlines.cfg and default.dp files from my FS2002/AIRCRAFT folder. I found them on the original installation disk (zipped in Disk #1, AIRCRAFT.CAB file if anyone needs them) and now I have a lot of airplanes in the air and on the ground. I've downloaded the Project AI files and they work great. Frame rate took a hit though but at least things are working properly.
