Default Fresh Install & Some NZSI Shots

I just nuked my FSX install (after a backup) last week and reinstalled the FSX Gold edition with Acceleration which I've never had in the past. I installed it on another drive this time to get it off the Windows drive, not sure if it makes much difference performance wise but drive C: was starting to get pretty full anyway. Also new to me is NZSI which just showed up in the mail so here are some shots from the fresh install flying over NZSI. (do these seem dark, BTW? Really dark, or maybe just slightly darker than normal?)

    Thanks for looking!

    Jim

Well, what time of the day is that supposed to be? And does it normally look like that too for those typical times of the day in the sim?

If it's a dawn or dusk time, that's about the time it would start getting dark, wouldn't it?

It was dusk so yeah they'll be dark for that reason, I was messing with my sky textures is the reason I was wondering. I made the upper sky very dark which has a nice effect on FSX's water, but the downside of course is that everything is darker. I suspect my monitor is a bit lighter than normal, I've got the brightness turned all the way down and everything still seems light to me. I sort of made the darkened sky textures to compensate, was just wondering if they looked unreasonably dark on other monitors. I do prefer a dark, contrast-y look to the sim over bright and washed out (i.e. bloom). I love that mixture of colors in the 4th shot, I'm going to paint my house up like that .

Nice set of screens. Just got through reinstalling FSX myself. And, yes, the entire set looks too dark on my monitor. It's as if the gamma was off. You might want to check your video card settings.

These are some very nice shots with that NZSI scenery Jim. For me they do look a bit on the dark side, but I'm an old guy and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. I make an initial monitor adjustment using this program http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/. Then I sometimes make brightness/contrast adjustments to where some of the better posts on this forum look best to me. Different strokes for different folks though.

Very nice shots Jim, they do look a little bit dark but nice nonetheless.
