    I sincerely apologize!
    I should have said the SGS-2-33, not 262. So, read SGS-2-32, and -2-33, which I got my dual time in. Once I solo'd that, they let me use the -2-32 for my solo time, as it was the least used bird on the field. Awesomely fun glider to fly though.
    I learned how important proper ballasting of it is though one day when someone came over and stole my ballast plates out of it after I preflighted and went inside for arranging the tow-plane, and to stow the unneeded ballast plates. Do you have any idea how odd it is to have a Piper J3 come screaming up (ok, ok, "screaming up" is a very relative term!) beside you at 5000 AGL while soaring a thermal? An arm stuck out the side and started making frantic "follow me" motions at me. After I figured out what they wanted, they pulled in front of me and went down at about 65 KIAS (again, fast for me!) then motioned me to land ASAP once we got onto base. I did, they explained, and told me how hard that bird can be to fly without the proper ballast for my weight (I was a scrawny kid). I went outside and shook for quite a while, then got mad about having my ballast stolen, but the guy that did it didn't know I was taking the bird out right then. Like I said, least used bird on the field.
    From then on, any bird that had been preflighted had the canopy left open to signal others to leave it alone. Ahhh, the scary old days

    Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!
