    Default Airliners? Short runs!

    I love Hawaii!
That said, I don't wanna fly there all the time, so out comes the wallet. NOT!
Now why would I buy an airliner(if even available), that is dumbed down, to fly across the wide expanse of a ... a deserted wide expanse?
Freebie, so, I will download it, but the entire NA West coast, including a couple planes that have the range, needs to be $5 or less to keep me interested.

Kids get bored in a hurry and Daddy's not gonna pop for once a week flying expen$e$. MS better have a whole string of cheap new areas in the wings.
Most folks will get bored after a few complete circuits, without something to renew their interest at reasonable cost(right now I go to an FS library, grab a plane and some scenery, FREE), that interest is lost.
That's exactly what happened with me between FS5 and FS98(I had no internet back then). Two years of my joystick gathering dust.

IMO, a super-real simulator with rookie and a top-o-the heap multiplayer mode would have had more of a draw for anyone interested in flying.
I can just see MS multiplayer now, a bunch of Aerocarboats chasing each other around. Bumper-Planes anyone?

What, I have to wait a month to fly LAX to JFK? And get out my wallet again. See ya! Wouldn't wanna be ya!...Don

From the looks of it, Flight is going to be Mission driven, challenge driven, and easter egg hunt ("Aero-Caches") driven.

Microsoft is gambling that those three hold interest and encourage people to buy the other Hawaiian islands and planes.

It's no longer about exploration and the (actual) experience of flight, it's now about the achievements, unlocking that next plane, and running around balloon mazes collecting gold coins like a flying lab mouse.

The FSX Demo had a better setup, Saint Martin and surrounding islands, with an aircraft representing each class. That was free (with a 30 minute timer) and it was alot of fun (bonus points were that freeware addons worked in the demo meaning infinite flight options for free.)

And that encouraged me to buy FSX and experience the full world.

Flight only promises me The Hawaiian island chain and an unspecified number of GA, the "demo" just has the big island and comes with only three GA (The Icon A5 is default, The Stearman is a Sign-in Windows Live award, and the Vans RV-8 is unlocked after an unspecified achievement.)

Given the fact that Flight is a closed sim (and there will be no SDK) freeware planes to liven up the Big Island is impossible and the Icon and Stearman (I'm not jumping through hoops [figuratively speaking...I hope] for a third single prop GA) are going to get stale rather quick.

I am unimpressed with the news, the FSX demo let me island hop with the default CRJ-700 (and I could get FS9 airliners flying in it, no problem) Flight is purely reliant on the "PilotWings" gameplay to make the big island 'interesting' (that's why no jets, and just one island for free.)

I have FSX maxed out right now and and I'm flying around the big island in an Icon A5, and comparing with Flight's screenshots and videos...

I wish I could say but Microsoft has just released pics and clips of O'ahu (bait & switch much M$?)
