Thread: Games for Windows Live.

  1. Default Games for Windows Live.

" The game will be free, and will offer more content to those that use THE GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE FEATURE and those willing to pay small fees for new aircraft, mission packs etc."

So it appears, that unless you like the "Games for Windows Live feature", you are not going to get much out of this . Never having tried the games for Windows live, I can't say whether it's an experience I would like or not. Sounds like you could have problems if you don't have a fast internet connection. ? But then, not having tried Games for Windows live feature, I wouldn't know. I thought it was something for X-box, but obviously not, if it will run on the PC. Just briefly looking at the website, seems like you have to download special software before you can use it. Has anyone here had experience with Games for Windows live ?

It's obvious to me that this product "Flight", is a totally new direction that MS have taken, and as such, I think I can safely say , after 25 years, the product "Flight Simulator" , -as we knew it, - has ended with FSX. From what I can see, It will still be a Flying experience, but not quite the same way that Flight Simulator was. Hence the reason I feel, that MS have called this product "FLIGHT", - and not Flight Simulator. It's going to be more for those that like "The Games for Windows Live feature."

Think I'll wait until I see what others say about the experience when they try it, before I dive in !!

With FLIGHT , The world of MS Flight Simulator has moved on - For Better or Worse ! Only time will tell.

Seems like for worse. I never really got into live gaming. I did a few flights with a friend of mine on a direct connected multiplayer session.
    I prefer VATSIM.
Maybe someone will soon do a cockpit panel for google earth.

This was all obvious from the day it was introduced. I don't understand the debate now. Look at some other forums one would think the earth was just hit with a large gamma ray burst.

LIVE is not only for multiplayer. It is also their online software distribution tool, something like Steam or Origin (EA) if you have experienced using those... it like Apple App Store or Android Market for PC.

This means all add-ons for Flight in the future should be bought out of Windows Live and not from FSPilotShop, SimMarket, Flight1 etc.

  5. Default

I just mailed the Flight team to tell them that none of my money will fly their way if the use of GFWL will be mandatory for any functionality whatsoever. You might say it's no use, but that platform needs to die, and compliance won't kill it. We've already got their darn OS, for crying out loud. Why complicate things further?
