CRASH, BOOM, BANG! Add-on airport I take it? If you have ADE9X you can use an exlude rectangle to remove it. Mebbe a scenery Guru will drop by with more...Don

ADE9X is a airport utility that allows you to modify any airport. The stock buildings at Skagway are close to the runway but not on the runway.

    1. Install ADE9X and make sure it's configured correctly.
    2. Read the really extensive manual.

Trust me, it's a very sophisticated and powerful program. You can't just "jump in" and start blindly clicking things...

I think I'm in trouble! I don't enjoy reading manuals but I really have fun clicking blindly. I just knew these lifelong habits would prove to be detrimental to my FSX developing skills.

First - this web site only host file submitted by members of the community. There is no warranty, no guarantee of the content, except that they are not stolen work and the files do not contain viruses.

Second - if you download and install files, it is your choice to accept responsibility to find out if they work, have problems or other issues. Communicating in a friendly manner with other freeware developers helps improve the hobby.

You said a file from this site - what file specifically? If we know that, if we knew that in the first post - some of us with more expereince in these things could download the file and check it.

In general, I'm willing to bet someone decided to 'correct' the airport and moved the runway in their file. Unfortunately, they probably had their scenery sliders set low and thus did not see the buildings would now be located on the runway. Thus they did not move the buildings also.

A tip on using ADE. It looks at the file you want it to look at. For example, if you have downloaded a scenery/ AFCAD type file for the airport - you should open that .BGL file with ADE, not the stock airport. When working on airports - ALWAYS make sure both your scenery sliders in FSX and the Scenery Complexity in ADE are set the to maximum.

If the originator of the addon file you have did not have his scenery settings correct - and missed loading the buildings - you can 'Import Stock Data' with ADE to bring in the buildings. Then all you have to do is delete those stock buildings. You do not have to create an exclude. ADE will do that automatically. You can also just move them away from the runway and keep them. ADE handles the exlcudes for you.

EDIT - I see only one file in the library for FSX which has PAGY / Skagway. The file is done with what I consider an inferior tool. However, it does not move the runway. The four default buildings are close but not on the runway.

Bing Maps aerial photography shows that there is a parallel taxiway the full length of the runway. It is very close to the runway. Probably 70 to 80 feet from the runway edge to the taxiway edge at most. Google's imagery is useless, too old and lacks detail of the airport.

Since there is no FAA chart of the airport - the MS team had nothing to use for a more detailed airport when the FSX data was created in mid-2005.

Let us know which file you downloaded - and give us a screen shot. Since you are using Windows 7, you can create one easily with the Snipping Tool. Give some information so we can help you solve the problem.

One other thing - do you have UTX or any add on mesh for that region? That might have impacted airport runway placement.
