You are going to have to give more details of the crash and your system before we can help. Do you have UAC turned off, where is FS installed (what directory), 32bit or 64bit system, did you install by running "as administrator", does FS run "as administrator", are you running a 4Gbyte patched FS executable, does Vista know that? and so on...

Sorry. Yes UAC is off, FS is installed in program files x68, 64bit system, I'm the only user on the computer so I assume I'm the administrator

I don't know what that is.
I load the default cessna in seattle then go into aircraft and choose the 727. I don't get any warning messages it just closes and goes back to the desktop. The Configurator and T-O-M both work fine.

Go to the control panel and make sure your user has admin priviledges - I don't recall whether Vista assigns them automatically (Win7 doesn't). When you run FS, right click and chose "run as administrator" and see if that does the trick.

Do you get an error message in the Application Event Viewer? If so - what is it? Also, make sure DEP is set to system and not applications and Windows Defender is off.

The easy way to check DEP is to click the desktop, press F1, type DEP in the search box and select the first topic. Open DEP and make sure the first radio button (there are two) is checked. If that doesn't work, without your system in front of me, I'm out of ideas.
