  1. Default Concorde Absolutely Refuses To Stop In FS2004

    Hello Fellow Concorde Fans!

I have four Concorde aircraft -- all of them freeware from FlightSim and other sites. And they all do the same thing. . . .they refuse to stop after landing! When I press F1 to cut the throttle just before landing, after touchdown, the aircraft will decelerate to about 30-35 kts -- and no further. Then I step on the brakes to further slow the aircraft -- but when I release the brakes after coming to a dead stop, the aircraft immediately starts to accelerate forward again! Multiple hits on the F1 key produce no results -- the only way I can get the aircraft to stand still is to either engage the parking brake, or kill the engines altogether with (CTRL/SHIFT/F1).

And -- in case anyone is wondering -- I am not using a joystick of any kind with FS2004 -- so I know the problem is not joystick related.

The model files involved are -- CONCORDE_N.MDL, CONCORDE.MDL, SSTAF.MDL -- in case anyone is aware of known problems with these model files.

The funny part is -- when I first tested the aircraft on the ground, without taking off, all of the engine function keys worked perfectly normal. . . .pressing the F1 key did indeed cut the engines, and the aircraft coasted to a complete stop without using the brakes. It was only after I had flown the aircraft that the engine keys once again resumed their bizarre behavior after landing.

Since it is only these four Concorde aircraft that exhibit this behavior out of my collection of over 150 aircraft, I can't help but feel that there is something wrong with them. But, I am always willing to appreciate that there may be some operational aspect of this aircraft that I am simply not familiar with, that accounts for this strange behavior.

So I humbly ask all of you out there to share your experiences in this regard, and ask for whatever assistance you might provide.

Also -- are there any Concorde downloads out there that anyone knows about (even payware) that don't have problems with stopping?

    My humble thanks to all!

    Hello,

Go there ... download all the Concorde related stuff and install
(Before maybe it's better to read support pages !)

For support (if any needed) go there:

If you gave a couple of monkeys a box of ballpoints, enough paper, and enough time, they'd eventually finish up writing the complete works of Shakespeare

Wow! I didn't notice that Historic Jetliners Group has the Concorde now. How long has that been sitting there?

And I visited the site yesterday too.

It wasn't until you mentioned it being there that I noticed it.

To those at HJG thanks for the early Christmas! Have a happy holidays to you too.

    Update:

I actually already have this model. I thought it was a new one. I got it a long time ago prior to Project Mach 2's own site shutting down. Goes to show you what happens when you've been in this simming community for a long time. LOL

Operating practice on the real concorde was after touch down to shutdown two engines for taxi. At landing weights the 4 engines on idle thrust would do exactly as you describe!

And on departure they need (or use) 4 engines
This is the complete CVR from Concorde crash at Gonesse
Begin sometime before the start of engines and taxi
They taxied on four engines (check captain and engineer transcripts)

Yes that is correct. Taxi for take off is with 4 engines. Taxi after landing is with 2 engines.

All I can add is that when on a flight deck trip on Concorde ( Part of my Job ) we taxied out from KIAD on 4 engines. The idle thrust was so great that we were using brakes throughout the taxi. Naturally the brake temperatures were increasing. I said to the skipper, why not taxi on two and start the other two at the holding point ? He replied that as we had no APU, it had been tried, but difficulties had been experienced, resulting in the requirement of an ac-trolley !

After take off, on calling "Gear Up" the engineer said "Negative, Wheel Temperatures ! " The skipper said "F*** that !

At V2 +10 the gear was dropped for two or three minutes to allow the gear to cool down !
