Thread: Fsx map

  1. Default Fsx map

    I've downloaded a few excellent aircraft from here though one or two do not link to the FSX map. Please can anyone help me tweak 'panel.cfg' to place a panel button (or just keystrokes) to open the FSX map?

    Not all planes have it linked to an icon, but it should be available under the WORLD menu in the FSX bar at the top of the screen.

    The "button" is Map Icon in either the simicons.cab or simicons1024.cab. Do not extract it! Everything is done in the panel.cfg to add it.

    The syntax would be:
    gaugeXX=simicons!Map Icon, X,Y,20,20

    Add it at the end, and number the gaugeXX consecutive in the panel.cfg [WindowXX] description for the window you want to put it on..
    The X and Y in my example are the horizontal and vertical coordinates(pixels) in the window's parent bitmap.(file=)
    The normal size(denoted by 20,20) ranges from 15 pixels to 25 pixels square. Adjust to preference.

    That will work for any 2D window that has a vacant spot for it. VC additions are a lot tougher, if possible at all...Don

    Simple enough to set a consistent keypress to bring it up, independent of any icon.

    Excellent answer, Don. Many thanks.

    Hi Jim,

    In that case, I'm just curious; what do you do to turn on your Master/Battery?

    Come to think of it, I guess it's a rare case anymore, in which a key press would be required.

    I believe the default Master Battery keystroke is Shift+M

    Yeah, and because of my uncoordinated fingers, I changed it on mine to just plain M. I did that so long ago that I forgot I did it. Jim Robinson probably thinks I'm an idiot. He's probably right.
