Thread: Trying to upload shots!

  1. Default Trying to upload shots!

Can anybody tell me where Im going wrong now? Is the tutorial same for Win7 64bit?

I click on select files, then navigate to my pictures, open, fsx files (in here are all my screen shots), click on open, all i get is "no items matching your search criteria!" which is incorrect.

It says only jpeg allowed if i click on my shots they are described as bitmap images ....

    what now?

also i noticed on the instructions the demo files were like 194.2 KB mine are 7 -8 MB!!

    what the ?

there is a difference between JPEG and BMP images...BMP images are a lot larger in term of file size then JPEG pics so they need a lot of time to load if someone has a weak internet connection. This is why most fo the websites don't allow this format. So you either use a converting tool or stop saving the screens as BMP images if they don't automatically save themselves like that.

Stephen, very welcome, if you follow Simons (Smutley) tutorial on top of this page it should be OK. I have also Windows 7 / 64. Is the seize of your pics within the forum limits?

You will need to convert the *.bmp files to *.jpeg format and reduce the file size to 195KB or less.
Reducing the file size can be done by making the image smaller(max is 1280x1024) and/or reducing the quality.
I use PaintDotNet(freebie) to scale the image, then reduce Q to under 195KB. It's easy and the price is right...Don

Take my advice if you want. I said it before, uploading the pics to an image host is a lot easier then attaching the images to this website. This way you won't have to deal with image size (my Pics are larger then 1MB). Go to Imageshack.us , upload your pics (you also have the option to resize them without losing quality) and then simply add the image URL here, between this codes:

I've always been using Miscrosoft's Paint to "Save As" JPEG. Is there a way for FSX to save screenshots in FSX directly instead of Bitmap?

    Hi

can you add a quick and easy way to reduce the size to the post please, i have installed this great bit of kit, my pics are still 1920 x 1018 i tried reducing size to 50% where does it show the new file size?

I have some truly beautiful snaps that i have taken mid flight, some of them good enough for 'photo' competitions!! with REX and the rest, obviously there is no point posting them if i have to considerably reduce the quality.

I have seen some realy good screen shots on the forum of late, how'd they do it?

    muchos

ok i think iv sussed it out, but the origianl snap is over 5mb, granted too big for any forum, but when i bring it aaaall the way down to 200 to 500KB the picture is tiny
