Thread: Force FS not to load default airport

  1. Default Force FS not to load default airport

I just installed an airport made up of a couple of BGL files and all is well except it seems all the traffic is offset by ~10 meters. Parked, taxiing and runway. When I spawn, I'm also offset to one side.
It seems as though FS is loading the traffic "paths" (or whatever it's called) from the default airport and the scenery from my modified airport. Is there any way to fix this?

    Cheerio,
    Nicholas.

Check with your add-on scenery airport to see if an AF_2, AFX_, or _ADE_ type .bgl file is included in its folder. The are the file types that contain the taxi-paths for ai and place you r aircraft if you create a flight.

A properly designed scenery will contain an afd file with excludes or flattens in it or a separate flatten or exclude .bgl file to 'cover' the afd properties in the default scenery. Check your add-on docs to see if you need to add statements to your scenery.cfg.

You also need to search for afd type files some times inserted by other scenery or ai traffic packages. The only allowed afd file should be the one included with the add-on package.

Get scanafd from the utilities section from the library. Here's how to use it:

If you have a traffic add-on like Ultimate Traffic that adds afcad type file always rename the extension of that file from .bgl to .bgh to disable it when using an airport scenery that supplies its own afcad type files so their is no conflict.

To check this run scanafd from the FS9\miscellaneous library here. If in win 7 or VISTA set up a shortcut to it with a program level property set to run as admin so it has full folder accesses. Set the application to use other than the default afcad folder and to show all (my preference) not just duplicates. Press Scan Files to refresh it its ICAO list after setting these parameters. Scroll down to or type the ident of interest.

If a duplicate file set is listed click on each one and select details. Check out the path for each file and write it down so you can locate it if needed. Generally if both files are in the same folder for the same add-on they are not really duplicates but are actually two layers with different information as the author intended. As an example taxiway signs may be in a different layer from the runways, etc., but these are often placed in afd type files. Sometimes navigation add-ons, also afd type files are in different layers.

This will give you a clue as to where competing files may exist.

ScanAFD does not show the default airport file information in the APxxxxx.bgl files unlike the AFCAD program when doing an airport search.

The settings for parameters for the search are not retained between sessions so you need to set them each time and then perform the scan so all scenery folders are included.

Wow, that's alot of information. It'll take some time for me to understand and try them all out, but I thank you in advance for your help.
