Default FSX freezez up after paused

First, I would like to say that I have searched in forums and on google for the solution, but the expanse range of FSX freezing up would take weeks to go over all of them.

My FSX will freeze up about 1 minute after coming off of an extended pause. For example, today I was doing a flight from KATL to KJAC and started feeling tired. I paused the flight, took an hour nap, and when I unpaused it, almost right away ATC sent me to another center. FSX worked properly until after I closed the ATC window after the center change.

The sound still runs, but there is no mouse pointer, and if I were to do ctrl+alt+del and start task manager, it shows FSX as 'not responding' If then I go back to FSX, there is just a black screen with sound still going.

I already have done the /3GB switch (set to 3072) and did the UIAutomationCore.dll switch to the Vista version and placed in the FSX main folder.

    Below are my system specs:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
nVidia GeForce 9500GT 1GB graphics card with latest driver update on 8-3-11
    Processor: Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz 2.60GHz
    Installed memory RAM: 3.00GB
    FSX SP2 installed

I did not have the problem a month ago, and the only recent addon was the I bought Ultimate Terrain X for USA and Europe. I appreciate any help that can be provided.

Additional info: I notice that FSX uses an average of 2GB of memory and I have only 1 excel book open which I use as a flight and fuel tracker. I believe this is a memory leak issue, but am not sure since this was not an issue a month ago when I could pause a flight, go to work, come home and still fly just fine.

There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Just happened again. This time i took notice of the memory and CPU usage while the issue was happening. I am only using 1.75GB total memory of the 3.00GB installed. FSX would have 1GB of that at the time of the problem. CPU usage is at 50%.

With FSX running with no problems, I am seeing the same CPU usage and FSX using 2GB of the 3GB installed.

I found some posts on google that indicate that this could be a "thread collision problem" when limiting FSX framerates (have mine limited to 40FPS)

I did find an updated driver for my graphics card and I am currently downloading that. All other drivers for audio and game controller are up to date.

Just seems strange to me that this is only after a long pause where most other posts are about FSX freezing up while in game (the UIAutomationCore.dll switch seems to fix the freezing while game not paused)

I am still open to any other suggestions/solutions...

After installed new graphics driver, I was on a flight and again felt tired. This time, I had FPS limit set to unlimited, I paused the flight, Alt+tab out of FSX, then put the computer to sleep. When I woke up, i opened the FSX window again and finished the flight with no problems. So the solution could be 1. the graphics driver 2. had extended pause with FSX window still open 3. left the computer running (this thing stays on 24/7 so doubt that was the cause) or 4. a combination. Either way, I am relieved to have found a solution since I am using FSPassengersX and as I keep moving up in my company the flights are getting longer and longer. It would not be possible in a few weeks to have done the KATL-FAJS flight which is 8,449 miles without having to pause for an extended period of time. Although no one else commented on this, I am posting the solutions that I found for anyone else who may encounter the same problem.
