Thread: My Visit to Duxford (FSX)

  1. Default My Visit to Duxford (FSX)

...though it could have very well have been in real life. What's been accomplished with this scenery, is absolutely incredible, and I am just blown away by the depth of detail, all of it so accurate and just as it really is. The following screenshots, following my 1.5-hour tour around Duxford, is my way of saying thanks and expressing my appreciation to Stephen Legg and John Young.

My only complaint about my visit, is that I had to put up with typical English-weather. : )

Arriving for Flying Legends, I decided to bypass the main entrance, and instead of driving, I decided to walk. Here I am approaching and walking past the main entrance, admiring the replica Hawker Hurricane gate guardian.

Before entering the airport, I decided to walk around the outisde of the field for a bit. Here is the staff entrance.

    Another closed-off entrance.

Some of the local residential housing.

Finally passing over the foot path, into the airport grounds.

The first site that I had to see, the extremely rare V-1 launch ramp and V-1 "buzz bomb".

Now, I'll let the rest of these screenshots speak for themselves. Despite all that is shown, it doesn't begin to cover all that can be seen.

I ended my visit with a nice stroll around the historic control tower.

These are great! I live about 25 minutes from Duxford though I havn't been there for many years. With all these Duxford screenshots appearing this week I think it might be time for another IRL visit soon.

Thank you Jeh! Although I have never been there myself, having viewed all of the photos of the sites, as I have, I feel as though I 'know' the place already, and this scenery only increases that feeling.

Here are some wide-angle randoms, with a few from my "flightline walk", and one taken after a brief hop in a Mustang, after the weather had cleared a bit.

A rather appropriate visitor, fresh from restoration. : )

Thank you SkyKnight and Adam! I figured I would put a link here to this video, presented by Airshow Buzz TV, that is filled with both modern and archival footage, all shot at Duxford. Using the keywords "Duxford" or "Flying Legends", will bring up a large number of superb videos on Vimeo, on the subject, if interested.

Darren, they, along with the other AI warbirds and vintage aircraft, are part of the AI package that comes with the scenery. Each aircraft that is part of the AI, are actual participants at each year's Duxford Flying Legends airshow. These are all of the AI aircraft that are included, and the schedule that they fly (the actual airshow part of the scenery can be turned on and off, seperate from the main scenery):
