Thread: Nobody can fix problem with 2nd Monitor resolution. HELP!

  1. Unhappy Nobody can fix problem with 2nd Monitor resolution. HELP!

System info: i7 950 cpu, 6GB Ram, ATI 5870 Graphics card, dual Samsung PX2370 monitors, 300GB Raptor, 150 GB Raptor, Windows 7 (64 bit), and using FSX Gold Edition (New install of both Windows and FSX)
Windows set for dual monitors at 1920x1080, graphics card matches as well, FSX set for 1920x1080

Problem: Resolution on 1st monitor fine at 1920x1080 looks perfect, second monitor resolution fine when using Windows, internet, even in FSX when just pull over main screen for example but as soon as you try to go flying the second monitor
resolution is terrible and nobody can seem to fix. At one time it worked fine thought maybe Windows or FSX got corrupted so both OS and FSX were installed "clean" but second monitor resolution still terrible. We are at wits end! Help! Anyone know whats going on here? Your help/wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

I'm guessing you're flying in fullscreen mode? Have you tried flying in Windowed mode and see if that works better? You can undock panels and move them over to the 2nd monitor. This is personally how I fly so I can also have other programs up to monitor, like my VA's ACARS, VasFMC, FSINN, etc.

    Hello!

A shot in the dark here, but what about looking at the Monitor menu and seeing if it's got a Resolution adjustment (some do)?
Perhaps another program (gaming or graphics oriented) is overriding your native settings although Win 7 tells you everything is OK?

Like I said... trying to think of some more obscure possibilities since the main culprits are accounted for.

    Good Luck!

Thanks, monitor does not have resolution adjustment. We did the clean installs of Windows and FSX last night and PC is basically bare of anything other than FSX. When I do Views then New View...Outside......Spot.......Undock View looks fine on monitor 1 but when I drag "boxed" view to monitor 2 then resolution changes to terrible image quality.

You can set the resolution for second monitor. You can do it in Control Panel/Display. In Fsx go to Options/Settings/Display/Graphics. The drop down menu for Device will show two versions of your video card .0 and video card.1, one for each monitor. You can set resolution for both monitors here.
