Thread: Square Gauge in Round Holel

Default Square Gauge in Round Holel

I enjoy using Panel Studio to customize panels. I like to use the default HSI that appears in the Baron, among other planes. It's easy to read, etc. In some panels, however, like the Carenado FS9 Archer (and others) the places in the panel where the gauges go act like "holes" where the gauge appears to be BEHIND the panel and the round hole masks off the rectangular shape of the Baron HSI. With other panels, like the Carenado Dakota, for example, the gauge appears IN FRONT of the panel and is not masked off. Is there any way to either make a gauge appear in FRONT of a panel if it doesn't now, or make a square opening in the panel bitmap so the full HSI will be visible? I searched the existing postings and didn't see anything right off the bat. If the answer is out there already, I apologize! Brooks

In the VC those holes are permanent! For those, the VC's gauge surface is mapped behind the Mask(front bitmap surface) in the model and can't be altered.
For the ones that do show, the VC's gauge surface is mapped on top or "in front" of the surrounding area.
I haven't found a method to fix them. I've tried making the "front" bitmap transparent without any luck. If you come across a way...Share It!!...Don

Default Square Gauge in Round Hole

    fxsttcb,

Thanks so much! Of course, I was hoping it was something we could deal with, but I guess not. I may try contacting Carenado. They have always been very cooperative with advice and fixes.

By the way, we're close. I'm in Oakland county.

    Don, et al,

I contacted Carenado on the subject of installing gauges "in front" of the panel on planes like their Archer II and they said they put the gauges "behind" in some cases because the panel faces in those cases have 'protruberances" (I assume they mean that the panel is modeled in 3D). They said there is nothing that can be done to change it. Brooks
