Well, your title didn't specify 'flight' sim so.....my 1st WOW, was getting into a full motion 737 sim. Thought I was in a real airplane for awhile !!

Edit: don't know why '737' shows up twice; only typed it once ???

For me when I discovered Tileproxy and the wonders of being able to see my home below.
Planes, the first to make a big impression was Dreamfleet 737, then Captainsim 727

For me every sim has its WOW moment!

Since the first sensation of virtual flying with 90's versions to current as true as it can be scenery. I like to think that I always have a wow, every time I finish each of my flights!

    So WOWs:

FS2.0: The first glimpse of virtual flight!!

FS95: To see my plane from the outside!!

FS2000: The ability to fly the Concorde

    FS2002: Not alone!

FS9: How accurate the Cessna 172 is represented and the opportunity to be Charles Lindbergh

FSX: How for some of us this hobby has been transformed to be a job... and as a consequence the quality on some of this products (from single engine to complex airliners)... as real as it can be, destroying FS paradigms...

    Clear skies to all

Finally, I would add, and with this nothing else need to be said about this thread:

The "wow" moments are those we simply lack today.
Look at this Forum. What a boring hobby its has turned itself to be. Dead.

The A2A Spitfire seemed to revive my simming a bit , with the accusim expansion addon it should be even more interesting learning to fly it the proper way.

First wow moment was FSX.... I'm not old enough to remember the really old versions, 98 was the first i knew. Seeing 2002 on a friend's computer, i then got FSX and was amazed at...everything! Which is the primary reason I am a student pilot now.

My first WOW was using FS98 with a variety of add-ons from this very site.

FSTraffic was generating dense AI traffic to make the airports and approaches busy.

GPWS was used to add more realism to the sounds in the cockpit.

I used a stand alone navigation program ( I think it may have been called Navplan, but I cant recall ), which picked up all of the installedscenery files.
This program was used to plan the whole flight and make a list of all of the frequencies that I would need and was so easy to use.

A variety of other sound files were used to give computer noise in the cockpit and anouncements in the cabin and even a safety breifing.

The flight itself was from London Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare in a 747, and the weather was set to an overcast at about 2000 ft and surface fog at departure and arrival.

I flew the whole trip in real time and as I slid down the glideslope to about 200 ft the runway started to appear through the fog - right on the centre line!

It was the first time I had tried to go such a distance and to have the realism so good, and to touch down on the centre line, really made my day.

I still dont think the gameplay has reached that level in the latest versions. Granted the graphics are better, but I am seriously thinking of getting hold of a copy of FS98 and reliving my past triumphs.
