    Default Tubeliner Shots for PESSO!

Here ya go buddy, sorry for the delay, took me a while to get everything together and then I had to make about 10 attempts before I finally nailed the landing . It's Posky rather than PMDG but I couldn't see spending $75 bucks on something I probably won't fly all that much. The Posky isn't bad though, I downloaded the FSX native model package and aliased the default 744 virtual cockpit. Couldn't go the infamous (completely uncontrollable, absolutely do not attempt to hand fly under any conditions) Posky FDE so I copied the default 744's acft.cfg and .air file into the Posky folder too and added the necessary bits to make it work with the Posky model. Still need to fiddle with the [Lights] section a bit more as you'll notice from the screens (the tail nav light hangs in the air about 10 ft behind the aircraft).

Not my greatest shots, I need to spend more time with it and get some better ones, but here's what I came up with:

    Thanks folks,

    Jim

KLM 747 + TNCM. There must be no two things in the world more compatible than these two. Nice pictures!

Thanks Nick & Darren, appreciate it.

    ...are you with klm virtual??
Nope, no virtual airlines for this cat I'm afraid. A couple years at Livewire back in the early FS9 days did a pretty good job of suppressing that VA urge for me .

Excellent shots. I get emotional about the 747, lol... it's presence is just so captivating. You've done a superb job showing this bird off, I can almost hear it

Thanks very much Josh & Alex . On the sound Josh I'm somewhat isolated where I live and I've only heard a 747 once in my life, but I know what you mean, I'll never forget that sound .

I'm sorry for the late reply too, I had some health problems and I went missing for a period of time. Thanks for the shots buddy...yeap, FSX does look better then FS9. Pic 5 and 7 look very impressing.

Why was the landing so hard? I'm using the keyboard and I still nailed the runway right in the middle (dumb luck). The ENB Series is great too. I know you said it's too dark..well it isn't that bad, it makes the colors pop up more so it's great.

Thanks once again, if you have a request too, please tell me. I'm pretty tired doing shots with airliners, I need some ideas...

    Default ...I make a lousy 747 Captain :)

Why was the landing so hard?
Because I haven't flown anything bigger than a King Air for 3 years, probably . No, the rediculous Posky flight dynamics were the problem there. I had my control sensitivities maxed and full aileron & rudder will barely raise a wingtip. I know it's unrealistic because the FAA would have never certified the 747 if it handled like that in the real world. Controllability is one of the requirements of certification . The autopilot has more control authority than the joystick does which is also unrealistic because the autopilot uses the same control surfaces the stick does, and shouldn't be able to move them beyond the joystick's control limits. Once I "downgraded" to the default 744 flight dynamics I was able to line up on the runway just fine, but it still took me a couple tries to get my speed/descent rate somewhat dialed in.

I used FSRecorder to set up a tower view on the end of the runway near the cantina or whatever it is, then after I finally nailed the landing I saved the replay for the screenshots. I think I lightened up my ENB just a tad in those shots and some of them were using "Shade", but more often than not, I forget to run the Shade utility before I start the sim so there are a couple in here without Shade.

    I need some ideas...
Have you flown the AFG King Air yet? Probably the most immersive freeware VC ever developed and if you use the Friendly Panels KA panel along with my VC textures/merge kit it's even better. The AFG also simulates cabin pressurization which is sort of fun to play with. Another one I like is the Aryus Citation XLS, it's really fast at FL370+ and hand flies very nicely for approaches & landings. I usually disengage the autopilot at the top of the descent and hand fly it all the way to the ground. I love Carenado stuff, for FS9 get the Mooney or the 206 package, they are Carenado's best FS9 efforts in my opinion.

Obviously I just jacked myself up on coffee before typing this post . Have a great day everybody !
