Default Omega Drivers or 30.30 drivers?

I heard that both are excellent. Which ones do you guys reccomend, particularily for fs2002 preformance. This is what my system looks like:

    Athlon XP 2000 @ 1.75
    512 PC2100 Crucial
    Asus A7V333 Motherboard
    Geforce 4 ti4200 (64 mb)
    Windows XP

Which are better in terms of image quality and framerates. I would prefer image quality over framerates. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Can't answer the question, except to say that you need to try both and decide which you prefer.

On my rig I can see little or no difference between them, except that the clouds display better under 30.30. Can't put my finger on it, but there you go...

    For what it's worth...

I installed the Omega drivers first. With the default settings they almost doubled my raw FPS, but the extreme shimmering of the autogen trees was unacceptable! I was unable to reduce this effect with moderate tweaking effort.

I then installed the 30.30 drivers, and almost all the shimmering is gone; both FPS and image quality seem to be better than with the 29.80 drivers. These are probably the best drivers I've used so far for my flying conditions. :)

I suggest starting with these first.

I have just downloaded the 30.30 drivers and unzipped them into a temp folder. This may sound dumb to you but in the past i have used the nvidea drivers with self installing programs. Therefore my question is how do I install these divers manually?
    Thanking you

Unzip the driver files to a folder.

Right click on 'My Computer' on your desktop or in your start menu and select properties, then device manager. Or go to the control panel and find 'System', then device manager.

Doubleclick on Display Adapters, highlight your videocard, click properties, click reinstall driver, point it to the folder where you unzipped stuff.

Well, it's not an official release like say 29.42. They're beta version drivers that were leaked by developers.

Although Nvidia's beta drivers work fine more often than not, they're a work in progress, and some stuff may not be optimised or entirely stable. Place yer bets and takes your chances.

...And that's why you have nice people like me telling you about them, installing them, trying them out with FS2002 and trawling the `net for signs of problems.

    It's called `research`, not chance.

Every time you switch your computer on you take a chance, unless you know what you're doing. The only reason for NOT trying beta drivers is technophobic. They may not give a performance increase, they may not improve or restore stability. But as every system is different if you don't try how would you ever know..?

That's not the only reason. I know what I'm doing, but personally I don't have the time or desire to try out every leaked beta. I'm fine with Nvidia's release schedule. The guy asked for advice, I thought my response was fairly neutral.

    >They may not give

So basically what you're saying with that last statement is that there is an element of chance, rather than 'research', after all?
