I recently crawled out from under my rock, spent some money, and sort of got myself up to date with current technology. I built myself a new i7-2600K machine and have so far loaded it up with 12 Gb of Orbx stuff. Had a little trouble getting the gfx card to anti-alias like it was supposed to, but with the help of Nvidia Inspector I think I've got things looking pretty good. Last but definitely not least not I finally ditched the dial-up connection and got one of these 4G hotspot thingys. Well, 4G hasn't happened here yet to begin with, and where I live, 3G is all but non-existant too, but even with the lousy connection speed due to the poor cell service, it's way better than dial-up and I'm a happy camper.
I treated myself to a nice new payware yesterday, the Carenado T210 Centurion. It's beautiful, I did a flight from Orbx Orcas Island to Coeur d' Alene Idaho, here are some shots from the new machine. The 2nd from the last is my favorite:
The new machine:
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge @ 3.4GHz (no OC - yet)
CORSAIR H60 Liquid Cooling
8Gb Kingston DDR3 2000 (@1866 mHz)
EVGA GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB
Crucial 256Gb 6Gb/S SSD (x2)
WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s
CORSAIR GS800 800W power supply
ASUS 27" LED/LCD Monitor
Thanks for looking!
Jim
