    Default Crew Bases

I was just wondering if Spirit Airlines has crew bases outside of Fort Lauderdale and Detroit. I was poking around their website and went to the careers section. It said to choose which location I would like to look at and see if they were offering jobs there. Places like Myrtle Beach, Vegas, Atlantic City, etc. Places that they actually fly to. But there were also places like Miramar, FL and Flushing, NY, places that they don't fly to.

So, if I was working for Spirit Airlines as a pilot, could I be based at any of those places, or just their hubs of Fort Lauderdale and Detroit?

    Default Crew Bases

A quick search of the internet reveals that Spirit apparently has crew bases at Detroit and Ft Lauderdale. They appear to have closed pilot bases at LGA and SJU recently.

In general, an airline will have as few crew bases as it can get away with, since each one has infrastructure costs -- for personnel and space, among other things. However, in this day and age pilots and flight attendants are usually not limited to living in the vicinity of the actual crew base, although a DTW base at an airline that pays as little as Spirit seems to would represent a really low cost of living situation! A house for $10,000 for example!! Florida is cheap now too, and may get more so as time, and global warming (!) go by!!

As for what you saw on the web, that probably referred to all of the places they serve, and they indeed have employees of some sort at each one, just not pilots!
