Thread: Fsuipc throttle

  1. Default Fsuipc throttle

Can anyone help me set up my saitek throttle with fsuipc. I have read and followed the user manual but am unable to set up the idle in the indent correctly and also not able to set reverse thrust below the indent so I don't have to use F2. I have disabled the throttle axis in fsx and am following the user manual by page 1 ticking lower right box to sync all 4 throttles, but don't understand how the numbers that come up mean when moving the throttle back and forth. I'm able to set full throttle but end up with idle above the indent and reverse thrust above the indent?. A simple explanation is probably available but I'm not getting it. Any help would be very appreciated. Johnboy

Make sure you click the 'no reverse' check box and see if you can get the throttle working. Then set up reverse on the 'buttons and switches' page to map a button to the F2 or NUM3 function. On the Saitek throttle, pulling the lever past the bottom detente triggers a button click, which is how you want to do it. For a more detailed treatment of this you can look at my video.

    Hi John,

In case Mark's suggestion doesn't work out for you, you can try heading over to the FSUIPC Forums and post there:

    Hope it helps!

Hi mark, great stuff worked a treat, I wonder why though fsuips user guide missed that out?. One thing though whilst experimenting with the throttle to c it work, I found that from idle to about 30 % there was not any change in engine output?, also a couple of times the throttle stopped working and I had to go back into fsuipc to set it up again, could I be doing something wrong?. Think my settings could be a little high as fsx gives a small glitch every so often by momentarily hanging before coming back on. I'm using a intel 2.66 ghz quad core process, 4th ram nvidia 8800gt graphics card, 640 gb h/d windows7. John

I have found FSUIPC to be alittle bit quirky and sometimes it forgets my mappings. It is a bit of a black art in practice, but by and large seems to work reliably for me. Your throttle doesn't seem right if it's doing nothing for the first 30% - do the numbers change when you move the slider through that part of the range? If not, you need to calibrate the controller in the Windows calibration screen. Or if the numbers do change, you are likely doing something wrong in FSUIPC although it's hard to say what. In the appropriate part of the 'axis calibration' dialog you should see the numbers changing smoothly between about +/-16384 where it says 'input', and then over a different range (but still proportionately) where it says 'output', according to how you have set thigngs up. Most likely you will see the 'output' numbers reach minimum before the slider is fully back, in which case you have done something wrong and should try again. It is possible that if you followed my instructions you overdid the bit where I suggest you leave a bit of slack at the extremes.

Regarding the user guide, I think it's all in there, it's just an awful lot of information! I also discovered that you can set a NULL zone in the slider configuration screens, by pressing the middle 'set' button twice for different slider positions. Not realising that can cause odd calibration anomalies...

Thanks again for that mark, answer is yes I did see the numbers change as you said in that range, so perhaps either I have made too big a null zone or something else, so will check again tonight. Being a novice's can you tell me or point me in the right direction for setting up a second and. Even third screen using widescreen?, I have a laptop which linked with a crossover cable let's me see my position with plan-g but I would like to have 2 more screens showing a wider 3 screen view. Does each screen have to have it's own processor or can they be linked another way, john

You can search for this question here as it comes up a lot. As far as I know, you will not be able to do this without a Matrox TripleHead2Go (or DualHead2Go) or an Eyefinity card. You can plug in an additional monitor if your card has two connectors, but you will only be able to use it for 2D panels, or for other apps if you run in windowed mode. In any case, I would suggest you look at TrackIR as an alternative.
