Thread: Longest runway?

    Default Longest runway?

Just out of curiousity, what is the longest runway(s) in FS 9?

Perhaps Roswell, NM at 13001 feet? Kennedy Spaceflight Center may be longer - I believe the Shuttle strip is near 15000 feet...

I believe the longest paved runway is 14,000 at Edwards, the marked lakebed strips may be longer? — Bob

IT's not in the default scenery, but area 51 is the longest in the world and in-sim. The now closed runway measures nearly 30,000 feet.

Or the Pacific ocean for flying boats?

The Edwards and Area 51 runways, when including the lake beds are probably the longest. Denver has some pretty long runways as well I believe.

Uuuummmmmm. 30,000 ft. at Area 51. That's odd. I thought flying saucers took off vertically.

    Thanks for the input.

Yeah, well the runway was built as a safety instrument for the testing of the very real blackbirds and the very real oxcart program. As I'm sure you know, they land very fast. I can't be quite sure of the exact facilities our government would use for a hoverng flying saucer.

I think the Embraer airport in Brazil is pretty long too.
